Thillai Kali Amman Temple


Arulmigu Thillai Kali Amman Temple is a revered temple located to the north of the world famous Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali Amman and is one of the known Shakthi (Parvati) temple. 'Thillai Kali' form of the Goddess is a deity in anger. Myths points to the argument between Shiva and Parvati about the superiority. The disgusted Parvati appeared in the anger posture “Thillai Kali”.

The Idol of the Goddess 'Thillai Kali Amman' in this temple appears with four faces. There are many stone inscription depicting the Hindu 'Shoza' periods and are very attractive. Poojas are perfumed daily 4 times. Timings: 6 am - 12.30 Noon & 4.30 pm - 8.30 pm.
